Geronnene Gegenwart

Form becomes liquid.

Geronnene Gegenwart is a series about lightness, and about the moment control hands over to chance.

Every piece starts as a precise cut, a clean geometry on flat glass. Then it goes into the kiln. At around 800 °C the sheet lets go, slumps, folds into itself, and finds a shape we can guide but never fully decide. Two vases from the same cut never come out the same.

What stays is the flower. The glass holds it, thickens around it, shows it like through a lens. Still, the objects keep something playful, almost naive, as if the form got caught mid-thought.

The vases come with one to five openings, each one its own arrangement of stem, glass and light.

Every object is made to order, one of a kind, numbered and signed. Float glass, kiln-formed at Kunstbau Weißensee, Berlin.
